The Approach In Action 45 min, HDV, 2006 |
The Approach in Action is a 45-minute training video companion to Mobilising Communities to Prevent Domestic Violence: A Resource Guide for Organisations in East and Southern Africa.
The Resource Guide is for organizations in East and Southern Africa that are committed to preventing domestic violence through a community-based approach. This training video is a companion piece to the Resource Guide. Through it, viewers will learn more about some of the concepts behind the approach described in the Resource Guide and how individuals and organizations are putting the approach into action.
Following a text-book-like structure, this video outlines some of the key ideas and describes the methodology of the community-based approach developed by Raising Voices’ and outlined in the Resource Guide. Through interviews with organisations that are using the approach, video footage of community activities in Uganda and Tanzania, and lively animation viewers will develop a clear understanding of the work and learn from the insights of experienced organisations in the region.
Mobilising Communities to Prevent Domestic Violence was written by Lori Michau and Dipak Naker and developed by Raising Voices in collaboration with Unifem and Action Aid Uganda, with the generous support of CIDA/GESPII, The Moriah Fund and the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund.
The Approach in Action was directed by Chanda Chevannes and edited by Nathan Shields. It was written and produced by Lori Michau and Chanda Chevannes and co-produced by Raising Voices and The People’s Picture Company with funding from Hivos and The Ford Foundation.
